Lockdown delays announcement of NAC international bursary results

The National Arts Council (NAC) regrets to announce a delay in the awarding of international bursaries for postgraduate arts studies for the 2020/21 academic year, due to factors related to the government-mandated lockdown.

The NAC was due to announce the outcomes of this funding opportunity for overseas study this month. However, this process has been unavoidably held back amid the Covid-19 outbreak that has placed certain administrative functions on hold.

Members of the NAC’s bursaries panel have reviewed the applications received and have made recommendations to the NAC’s Council, which has been unable to convene to sign them off due to the lockdown.

The NAC would like to assure all applicants that the results will be announced as soon as possible, and regrets this unfortunate delay.

Kindly keep checking the media and the NAC’s website, www.nac.org.za, for updates and the announcement of the successful candidates. We look forward to congratulating and celebrating with these exceptional young South Africans, who will be awarded international bursaries to address some of the rare and essential skills required by the South African arts sector.
